Eating Disorder Therapy in Illinois
Support that helps you rebuild trust with food and your body
If food and body thoughts take up too much space in your day, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to keep white-knuckling it. At Sage Mental Health, we provide telehealth eating disorder therapy across Illinois for adults who feel stuck in cycles of restriction, binge eating, overeating, emotional eating, compensatory behaviors, or ongoing body image distress.
Our approach is nonjudgmental, trauma-informed, and collaborative. We’ll move at a pace that feels safe while still creating real momentum toward change.
What we help with
Eating concerns can look “high functioning” on the outside while feeling exhausting inside. Therapy can help if you’re experiencing:
- Disordered eating influenced by trauma, chronic stress, or major life transitions
- Binge eating or feeling out of control around food
- Restrictive eating patterns, chronic dieting, or fear of certain foods
- Compensatory behaviors such as purging, over-exercising, or laxative use
- Body checking, body avoidance, or persistent body dissatisfaction
- All-or-nothing thinking about food (for example, “good vs. bad” or “on vs. off track”)
- Anxiety, shame, guilt, or perfectionism tied to eating and body image
Our approach to eating disorder therapy
We focus on patterns, nervous system safety, emotions, and sustainable skills.
Depending on your needs, therapy may integrate:
- CBT / CBT-E–informed tools to reduce eating disorder thoughts and behaviors
- DBT skills for emotional regulation and urge surfing
- ACT strategies to loosen the grip of rules and perfectionism
- Body image work grounded in self-compassion and values
- Trauma-informed care when eating patterns connect to past experiences
- Collaboration with your dietitian/medical team when appropriate
