How Self-Trust Led Me to Start My Own Therapy Practice

Making Space for Risk and Self-Belief

Over the past year, I’ve taken some of the biggest personal and professional risks of my life. I chose to believe in myself enough to take a leap and fully immerse myself as a business owner in a field I deeply care about.

Self-trust became my anchor. It meant knowing that no matter what happened, I could rely on my own judgment, resilience, and capacity to figure things out. That I could feel scared or uncertain and still move forward in meaningful ways.

Learning to Live With Uncertainty

I’ve learned to make uncertainty my companion rather than something to fear. Not knowing the outcome doesn’t mean failure. It means possibility. It’s in those in-between moments that growth quietly unfolds, often without us realizing it at first.

The Relationship You Have With Yourself Matters Most

I’ve also learned that the most important relationship you’ll ever have—the one that shapes your sense of peace, confidence, and fulfillment—is the relationship you have with yourself. When you begin to trust your own timing, your own process, and your own worth, everything else starts to align in a more grounded way.

Starting Sage Mental Health was not just a career move. It was an act of self-belief. For years, I’ve helped clients build confidence, boundaries, and compassion. When it came time to take my own next step, I realized I had to practice what I teach: to know that I have my own back.

Growth Isn’t Linear

Here’s the truth I keep returning to: growth isn’t linear. It’s messy, unpredictable, and full of moments that test your patience or trigger imposter syndrome. But that process, in all its discomfort, is what makes it meaningful.

If you’re standing on the edge of a big decision and wondering whether you’re ready, ask yourself:

Who’s rooting for you, if not yourself?

Because once you start trusting yourself, everything else begins to fall into place.
